Join Internationally Recognized Potter Bill van Gilder for this 2-Day Demo Workshop at The Clay & Metal Loft

Friday-Sunday  I  April 26-28, 2019  I  Leesburg VA

During this two and a half day, information-loaded, demo-workshop some 50+ making techniques will be demonstrated to address techniques, tips and tools for wheel thrown pottery and exploration of functional forms in hand building.

Demonstrated techniques at the wheel will include lid arrangements and form, spout, rim and lip making and proportions, trimming and foot finishing possibilities, faceting and fluting as decoration, squared and oval baking ware and so much more!

Hand-building demonstrations may include slumped oval slab platter making, humped squared plate making, foot attachment possibilities; slab, sprigged & coiled and textured

A discussion about glazes will take place during the workshop, as requested. Bill’s ^6 oxidation, ^8-9-10 gas, and salt/soda wood-firing slips & glaze recipe sheets will be provided to each participant.

Friday, April 26 6-8pm: Slide show and wine and cheese reception

Saturday, April 27 9:30am-4pm: Demonstration

Sunday, April 28 9:30am-4pm: Demonstration

A selection of the van Gilder Clay Tools and a sampling of his current work will be made available for participant purchase.
